The Garden City of Singapore is full of surprises.
Singapore’s cultural diversity reflects almost 200 years of colonial history with immigrant cultures immigrating from Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian and Arab ethnicities. Each ethnic enclave is unique in itself and offers an abundance of local charm and character in various museums, churches, mosques and temples to varied ethnic communities of Singapore.
Today, 86% if the population lives harmoniously in housing provided by the government. The public housing programs in Singapore is one of the most successful in the world.
Singapore is not contented with being just a Garden City – she wants to hold herself up as a “Model Green City” in the 21st Century, so goes the title of the Green Plan – Towards a Model Green City – A Tropical City of Excellence.
